Botham, Ian Terence 1955 - . English cricketer His Test record places him among the world's greatest all-rounders. He has played county cricket for Somerset, Worcestershire, and Durham, as well as playing in Australia. He played for England 1977-89 and returned to the England side 1991. Botham made his Somerset debut 1974 and first played for England against Australia at Trent Bridge 1977; he took five wickets for 74 runs in Australia's first innings. In 1987 he moved from Somerset to Worcestershire and helped them to win the Refuge Assurance League in his first season. Botham also played Football League soccer for Scunthorpe United 1979-84. He raised money for leukaemia research with much-publicized walks from John o'Groats to Land's End in the UK, and Hannibal-style across the Alps.
